Queens Man Sentenced to Life for Murdering Pregnant Girlfriend

QUEENS, NY – Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz has announced a 25-year to life prison sentence for Goey Charles, 33, for the murder of his pregnant girlfriend, Vanessa Pierre.

The sentencing comes after Charles was found guilty of second-degree murder.

The incident dates back to October 23, 2020. Charles was seen abandoning Pierre’s body beside the Horace Harding Expressway in Bayside. The medical examiner concluded Pierre died from neck compression asphyxia.

Senior Assistant District Attorney John Esposito prosecuted the case under the Homicide Bureau’s supervision. Queens Supreme Court Justice Kenneth Holder the sentence on Friday.

The District Attorney emphasized the crime’s brutality and the need for justice in Pierre’s memory, underscoring the severity of the sentence.
