Fatal Car Crash in Dover, Delaware Claims Life of Hartly Woman

DOVER, DE — A tragic car crash in Dover, Delaware, resulted in the death of a 59-year-old woman from Hartly. The incident occurred on December 1, 2023, at around 3:11 p.m. A 2001 Buick Century, driven by the Hartly woman, was traveling eastbound on Rose Bowl Road and stopped at the stop sign at North Dupont Highway.

As the Buick attempted to cross the southbound lanes of North Dupont Highway, it was struck on the driver’s side door by a 2012 Nissan Sentra traveling southbound in the left lane. The collision occurred in the left lane of North Dupont Highway.

The Buick’s driver was transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance, where she later died. Her identity is being withheld pending notification of her family and relatives. The Nissan’s driver, a 21-year-old woman from Smyrna, Delaware, also sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital.

The area was closed for about two and a half hours for investigation and clearing of the crash scene.
