Habitual Traffic Offender Arrested After High-Speed Chase in Martin County

MARTIN COUNTY, FL — Roderick Phinizee, known by the nickname “Worm,” was apprehended and booked into the Martin County jail as a habitual traffic offender following a high-speed chase. Phinizee engaged in reckless driving in a Dodge Challenger, reaching speeds over 125 miles per hour.

Deputies attempted a traffic stop, but Phinizee fled, leading them on a pursuit onto the interstate. With multiple road patrol units and Air1 involved, deputies used stop sticks to disable his vehicle due to the danger he posed to other motorists. After his vehicle was disabled, Phinizee attempted to evade capture by hiding in a nearby wooded area.

He eventually surrendered and was arrested on multiple charges, including fleeing and eluding, driving with a suspended, revoked, or canceled license with knowledge, and resisting arrest. Phinizee is currently held at the Martin County jail.
