Teenager Injured in Shooting Incident in Utica

UTICA, NY — A 14-year-old was critically injured in a shooting in Utica in the early hours of December 2, 2023. Utica Police and Fire units responded to the 1000 block of Wager St around 12:40 AM after reports of a gunshot victim.

The victim and several witnesses reported that an argument on the 1000 block of Knox St escalated, resulting in members of the opposing group firing shots. The teenager sustained gunshot wounds to the arm and chest.

The victim was initially taken to Wynn Hospital for treatment and later transported to a Syracuse Hospital due to the bullet’s location in his body. He remains alert and conscious. Updates on his condition will be provided as available.
