Utica Police Arrest Man for Weapon Possession Following Traffic Stop

UTICA, NY — On December 2, around 6:00 PM, officers from the Utica Police Department’s Crime Prevention Unit conducted a vehicle stop on Steuben St near Gold St for New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. During the stop, officers interviewed the vehicle’s occupants, leading to an admission of a loaded handgun in a bag inside the vehicle.

Both occupants were removed and detained. Upon searching the bag, officers found a loaded 9mm handgun. The individuals were transported to the Utica Police Department for further investigation. Domingo Arroyo, a 19-year-old Utica resident, claimed ownership of the weapon and was subsequently charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Firearm.
