OCEAN COUNTY, NJ – On last Friday, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced the sentencing of Ashley Watkins, 32, of Eatontown, to five years in New Jersey State Prison for vehicular homicide.

The 2021 crash in Brick Township resulted in the death of 78-year-old Nancy Penrod.

Watkins, who pled guilty, was found to have fentanyl, diphenhydramine, and marijuana in her system at the time of the crash.

Additionally, Watkins pled guilty to driving while intoxicated, resulting in a seven-month suspension of her driving privileges.

Watkins is required to serve at least 85 percent of her sentence under the No Early Release Act (NERA) before parole eligibility.
