Christmas Decoration Vandals Identified in West Chester

WEST CHESTER, PA – The Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department has identified local squirrels as the primary suspects in the vandalism of Christmas lights over the holiday season.

After investigations and interviews, the police found that the incidents, initially suspected to involve human culprits, were the work of the local squirrel population.

Squirrels are known to chew on various objects, including wires, to sharpen their constantly growing teeth. The shape and size of unlit Christmas lights can also lead them to mistake these decorations for nuts.

This behavior has resulted in numerous instances of damaged holiday lights in the West Chester area.

Residents are advised to be aware of this issue and take appropriate measures to protect their outdoor decorations from potential squirrel damage.
