Garfield Man Arrested for Lewd Images of Minors

GARFIELD, NJ – Jorge E. Mendez, a 56-year-old product inspector from Garfield, has been arrested on charges of producing and possessing child sexual abuse material.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, under Chief Jason Love, led the investigation that culminated in Mendez’s arrest on Tuesday.

During the investigation, over 1700 items depicting explicit content involving minors were found in Mendez’s possession.

He also used a hidden camera to record a child for his sexual gratification.

Mendez was charged with first-degree production and second-degree possession of child [censored]ography and is currently held at the Bergen County Jail awaiting court proceedings.
