Slashing Incident at Newark Hospital Pediatric Unit, Three Injured

NEWARK, NJ – A violent altercation at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children’s Hospital left three hospital employees injured early Friday morning. The incident occurred in the pediatric intensive care unit around 6:50 a.m. following a heated argument between two visitors.

According to Linda Kamateh, a spokeswoman for the hospital, the dispute rapidly escalated, resulting in a woman attacking staff members. Two nurses and a medical resident suffered stab wounds during the altercation and were promptly treated in the emergency room. Their injuries were reported as minor.

Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. The identity and motive of the assailant, as well as the condition of the injured staff, have not been disclosed. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
