LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA – A sophisticated gift card scam has been unveiled at the Giant Food Store on 700 Stony Hill Road. The Lower Makefield Township (LMT) Police Department, in conjunction with local detectives, reported the discovery of compromised gift cards at the store.

The scam involved stealing unactivated gift cards, recording their account numbers and PINs, and then placing them back on sale. Upon purchase, the scammers would withdraw the funds using the stolen information.

This fraudulent activity, which has been identified in the region, was brought to light during a coordinated effort between LMT detectives and store personnel.

The Upper Moreland Township Police recently apprehended individuals linked to similar incidents. Currently, there are no identified victims in LMT who purchased these compromised cards.

The investigation’s findings, including video surveillance, have been shared with the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office to facilitate prosecution efforts in Bucks and Montgomery Counties.
