NYPD Investigating Anti-Semitic Attack at Duane Reade in Manhattan

NEW YORK CITY, NY — On Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at approximately 9:25 a.m., a 66-year-old male was assaulted in an apparent hate crime at a Duane Reade store located at 17 John Street. The incident began when the victim inadvertently bumped into an unidentified individual while walking inside the store.

Following the brief contact, the assailant punched the victim in the head while making an anti-Semitic statement. After the attack, the individual fled the scene. The victim sustained a minor head injury but declined medical attention. No arrests have been made at this time.

The suspect is described as a 40-year-old male with a dark complexion, about 5’7″ tall, weighing 170 pounds, with a medium build, black hair, and facial hair. He was last seen wearing a purple and black North Face jacket, a yellow polo shirt, and dark pants.
