Newark Police Investigate Early Morning Shooting on Shephard Avenue

NEWARK, NJ – A shooting incident in Newark’s South Ward is currently under investigation by the Newark Police Department.

The incident, occurring in the early hours of Saturday, was initially detected through a ShotSpotter activation on Shephard Avenue.

Arriving officers discovered shell casings at the scene but no victims were immediately found.

However, a gunshot victim later presented themselves at Beth Israel Medical Center, believed to be connected to the Shephard Avenue shooting.

The condition of the victim is not life-threatening, and no arrests have been made as of yet. The Newark Police Department continues its investigation and requests any information that could assist in this case.
