Newark Police Find Guns, Cocaine During Traffic Stop

NEWARK, DE – Early on Tuesday, Delaware State Police arrested Wesley Lyons, 34, from Edgewood, Maryland, and Nicole Cottingham, 37, from Abingdon, Maryland, on multiple felony charges.

The New Castle County Governor’s Task Force, addressing community reports of crime in the Churchmans Road area, stopped a black Acura RL with expired tags.

A consensual search revealed a loaded firearm and 120 grams of cocaine.

Both Lyons and Cottingham, prohibited from possessing firearms due to prior convictions, face charges including possession with intent to deliver and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.

Lyons is held on a $70,050 secured bond, while Cottingham’s bond is set at $60,000.
