Teen Killed Mother’s Elderly Roommate

LANCASTER COUNTY, PA – The Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office has charged Brian Deante Gray, 18, with criminal homicide.

The charge stems from an incident on Monday, in the 1000 block of N. Duke Street, Manheim Township. Manheim Township Police responded to a call at about 6:32 a.m. regarding an unspecified accident at a residence.

Upon arrival, officers were informed by a witness that her son had killed her roommate. The deceased, identified as 68-year-old Michael Pfender, was found in a detached garage with visible injuries to his face and head. The Lancaster County Coroner’s Office determined the death to be a homicide caused by multiple traumatic injuries.

Investigations revealed Pfender and Gray, along with others, were in the garage earlier that night. Gray reportedly became upset with Pfender but appeared to reconcile before leaving the scene. A subsequent search warrant and preliminary assessment indicated blunt force trauma to Pfender’s head and face, including a defensive wound.

Gray turned himself in at the Lancaster City Police Station and is currently held in Lancaster County Prison without bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for December 18.
