Howard County Police Investigate Fatal Shooting in Columbia

COLUMBIA, MD – A fatal shooting in Columbia has resulted in one death and one non-life-threatening injury, currently under investigation by the Howard County Police.

A reward of up to $5,000 is offered for information leading to the resolution of this case.

Officers responded to the scene at the 7600 block of Woodpark Lane at about 9:25 p.m. on Sunday. They found two victims with gunshot wounds in the open stairwell of an apartment building.

Both were rushed to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. Jeremiah Isaiah Darden, 18, of Columbia, was pronounced dead overnight. The second victim, a 20-year-old male, was treated and released.

Suspect information is yet to be confirmed, and detectives are investigating the possibility of the incident being non-random. The police encourage anyone with information to come forward.
