Maryland State Police Coordinate 2.5 Hour Rescue in I-83 Crash

MARYLAND – In a remarkable display of teamwork, Maryland State Police (MSP) and Shock Trauma GO-TEAM played a crucial role in a severe accident on I-83 at RT-439.

The incident involved a box truck colliding with a tree. Trooper 1 immediately responded to the scene, while Trooper 2 went to Shock Trauma to pick up a trauma surgeon and nurse anesthetist. At the crash site, Trooper 1’s crew administered whole blood to the trapped patient, working in close coordination with the GO-TEAM throughout the extensive 2.5-hour extrication process.

Once the patient was freed, they were flown by Trooper 1 with the GO-TEAM to Shock Trauma for further treatment.
