Maryland Man Arrested for Harrington Burglary

HARRINGTON, DE – Delaware State Police have apprehended Mcy Mondestin, a 20-year-old resident of Federalsburg, Maryland, following a residential burglary in Harrington on December 21.

The incident occurred at around 7:20 p.m. at a residence on Genesis Lane. Troopers, responding to a burglary report, found Mondestin inside the home and arrested him without resistance. Investigation revealed that Mondestin broke into the home of an elderly woman who was asleep at the time. She awoke to the sounds of the break-in, managed to hide, and called 9-1-1. Mondestin discovered her hiding in the living room and confronted her before briefly leaving the room, giving her the chance to make another 9-1-1 call. The police arrived as Mondestin returned to the room.

Mondestin was transported to Troop 3 and charged with first-degree burglary and offensive touching. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 7 and is currently held at Sussex Correctional Institution on a $15,100 secured bond.
