Teen Killed in Deadly Crash in McCandless

MCCANDLESS, PA – The Allegheny County Police Department is currently investigating a tragic single-vehicle crash that occurred overnight in McCandless.

The incident was reported to County 9-1-1 at 3:19 am, involving an SUV on Irwin Road near Babcock Boulevard. Upon arrival, first responders found six individuals in the vehicle. An 18-year-old female was pronounced dead at the scene, and a 14-year-old male succumbed to his injuries after being flown to a local hospital. Two other passengers were hospitalized and are in stable condition, while two occupants escaped unharmed.

The Homicide Unit of the Allegheny County Police Department was called to the scene to lead the investigation. Preliminary findings indicate that the 18-year-old male driver of the SUV was traveling at high speed when he lost control and struck a tree. The investigation is ongoing.
