Newark Police Seek Public Assistance in Identifying Shooting Suspects

NEWARK, NJ – The Newark Public Safety Department, led by Director Fritz G. Fragé, is requesting public assistance in identifying suspects involved in a shooting incident that occurred on Wednesday, December 20, 2023.

The incident took place at around 12:30 a.m. in the 300 block of Halsey Street. Police were dispatched to the scene following reports of shots being fired. While officers did not find any victims and no injuries have been reported, one spent shell casing was discovered on the street, confirming the occurrence of the shooting.

The Newark Police Department has released descriptions of the three suspects involved:

  1. Suspect #1: A short male, seen wearing a red winter jacket, light-colored jeans, and white Jordan sneakers.
  2. Suspect #2: A female with a light complexion and curly hair, dressed in a black jacket, black pants, and white/red Jordan Brand sneakers.
  3. Suspect #3: A tall, thin-built male, wearing a blue jacket, a black ski mask, dark pants, and black sneakers.

The trio was last observed heading southbound on Halsey Street towards Lincoln Park. Detectives are actively investigating the case and are seeking the public’s help to identify these individuals swiftly.
