Quick Response by Police Saves Life at North Jersey Gym

SECAUCUS, NJ — A life-threatening emergency at LA Fitness in Secaucus was averted thanks to the prompt and collaborative response of Secaucus Police Department officers and medical personnel. The incident occurred on December 16 at 10:03 A.M. at the fitness center located at 485 Harmon Meadow Boulevard.

The police were called to the scene following a report of an unresponsive male who was not breathing. Juan Germosen, a witness, immediately initiated Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) efforts. Police Officer Christopher Boyko arrived shortly after and took over the CPR process, later joined by Officer Jonathan Padron. In a critical move, Officer Justin Pardo employed an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), delivering two shocks to the victim, which successfully restored a pulse.

Hudson Regional Hospital EMTs and Jersey City Medical Center Paramedics arrived on the scene to continue CPR, administering two additional shocks. The victim was then transported to Hudson Regional Hospital, where he was stabilized before being transferred to Hackensack University Medical Center for immediate cardiac care. As of this release, the victim is reported to be in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit.
