COLLEGE PARK, MD – The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal two-vehicle collision that claimed the life of 22-year-old Erik Mechtel from Clarksville.
The incident occurred near Campus Drive and Mowatt Lane around 5:40 pm on December 16. An SUV driver reportedly hit a median before colliding with Mechtel’s vehicle. The SUV driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
Mechtel was initially hospitalized but tragically passed away due to his injuries on December 28.
