18-Year-Old Woman Fatally Shot in D.C. Hotel Room, Suspect Caught On Camera

WASHINGTON, DC – A tragic shooting in Northwest Washington, D.C., has claimed the life of an 18-year-old woman, prompting a thorough investigation by the Washington, D.C. Metro Police Department’s Homicide Branch.

In the early hours of New Year’s Day, police responded to a distressing call from the 4300 block of Military Road in the Northwest part of the city. At around 1:18 a.m., officers arrived at a local hotel. Inside one of the rooms, they discovered a young woman suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite their quick response, she succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

The victim, now identified as Ashlei Hinds of Clinton, MD, was only 18 years old. A surveillance camera captured the suspect.

As homicide detectives delve into the investigation, they are calling on the public for assistance. The Metropolitan Police Department is urging anyone with information related to this incident to come forward.
