Baltimore Rings in New Year With Gunfire, First Shootings of 2024

BALTIMORE, MD – A shooting incident is currently under investigation in Baltimore’s Western District following an event in the early hours of January 1. At approximately 1:14 a.m., Western District patrol officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Druid Lake Drive after receiving reports of a shooting.

Six minutes later, in an unrelated incident, another person was shot in the city, a young woman who was shot multiple times near the 400 Block of East Baltimore Street .

Upon arrival, officers discovered a 44-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound to his right calf. The victim was promptly transported to a nearby hospital, where he is receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
