Home Invader in Critical Condition, Shot After Kicking in Woman’s Door

PITTSBURGH, PA – A burglary incident escalated into a shooting late Monday evening in Pittsburgh’s Burrows Street area. Police responded to a call at approximately 10:25 p.m. in the 300 block of Burrows Street, following reports of a burglary in progress.

A woman informed the police that her ex-partner had forcibly entered her home. After ending their relationship, the man arrived at her residence, forcefully kicked in the back door, and subsequently broke through the front door. In response to the intrusion, the woman shot the man.

The injured man fled in a vehicle, later arriving at Mercy Hospital with a critical gunshot wound to his abdomen. He underwent surgery following his arrival. The abandoned vehicle was later discovered near Duquesne University and was seized by the Auto Squad.

Authorities confirmed that the suspect is under arrest at the hospital on a pre-existing warrant from Greene County. Charges related to this incident are currently being prepared.
