NEWARK, NJ – Jose F. Gaona, aged 67, was the victim of a fatal shooting in the early hours of New Year’s Eve morning, as reported by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office. Gaona was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds in the 100 block of Malvern Street.
Authorities confirmed that Gaona was pronounced dead at 7:25 a.m. on Sunday.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation. The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office is actively seeking information from the public to aid in the investigation.
