Police Identify Suspect in April Shooting in Newark

NEWARK, NJ – Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé is appealing to the public for assistance in locating Quran Bey, 33, a person of interest in a shooting incident that took place on April 8.

The Newark Police were called to University Hospital following a report of a male victim who arrived with a gunshot wound. The investigation led authorities to determine that the shooting occurred in the 100 block of South 9th Street. Surveillance footage obtained during the investigation has identified Quran Bey as a key person of interest.

Director Fragé is urging anyone with information regarding Quran Bey’s whereabouts to contact the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). The Newark Police Department assures that all information provided will remain confidential, and tips leading to significant developments in the case may be eligible for a reward. The department is committed to resolving this case promptly and safely.
