Montgomery County Police Investigate Fatal Collision on Frederick Road

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD – The Montgomery County Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit is actively investigating a fatal two-vehicle collision that occurred on Tuesday, December 26, 2023.

The incident happened at approximately 12:16 p.m. near the intersection of Frederick Road and Wheatfield Drive. Responding to the scene were officers from the 5th District and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel.

A blue 2007 Honda Civic, driven by an adult female, was heading south on Frederick Road when it crossed the median for unknown reasons and collided with a white 2021 Ford Transit Van traveling northbound.

The driver of the Ford Transit Van, an adult male, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Tragically, the female driver of the Honda Civic, identified as 20-year-old Daniela Fernanda Pineda of Gaithersburg, was critically injured and later died in the hospital.
