Erie Woman Who Stabbed Her Boyfriend to Death is Heading to Prison

ERIE, PA – Janice Rowry, 62, from Erie, has been sentenced to a prison term ranging from 9 to 20 years, followed by 10 years of probation.

This sentencing comes as a result of Rowry fatally stabbing her ex-boyfriend, Jacob Carr, at the Boston Store Apartments in August 2020.

Rowry had entered a guilty but mentally ill plea to third-degree murder charges on November 9, 2023.

The sentencing was pronounced by the Honorable Judge David Ridge, who heard testimonies from both Rowry’s family and the family of the victim.

The impact statements focused on the effect of the crime on the Carr family and the memory of Jacob Carr.
