NYPD Cop Attacked From Behind on 46th Street, Recovering

NEW YORK CITY, NY — The New York Police Department (NYPD) is requesting public assistance in identifying a suspect involved in the assault of an NYPD officer.

The incident occurred on Thursday, at around 6:00 p.m.

The officer was addressing a disorderly group near East 46th Street and Madison Avenue when an unidentified male struck the officer from behind in the head. The assailant then fled eastbound on East 46th Street.

The injured officer received treatment for minor injuries at Mount Sinai West hospital.

The NYPD has released media depicting the suspect and urges anyone with information to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline or submit tips online.
