Shooting at Brooklyn’s Farragut Houses Leaves One Dead

BROOKLYN, NY – A shooting incident at 234 Sands Street in the Farragut Houses area resulted in the death of a 35-year-old man on Sunday, January 7. Police responded to a 911 call around 10:00 PM in the 84th Precinct/PSA #3. Upon arrival, they found Richard Reed with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest in the building’s lobby.

Emergency services transported Reed to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The police have not made any arrests, and the investigation is ongoing. Reed, a Brooklyn resident, leaves a community seeking answers in the wake of this violent event.
