MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ – On Sunday, at approximately 4:50 pm, officers were dispatched to an apartment on Allen Avenue for a welfare check.

Upon arrival, they encountered Conor Dougherty, the resident, who was confrontational and claimed to have a weapon.

Dougherty then locked himself inside the apartment, refusing communication with the officers. After several failed attempts at negotiation, the Monmouth County Emergency Response Team was activated.

The standoff concluded several hours later with Dougherty being taken into custody.

He faces charges of Terroristic Threats and is currently awaiting an initial court appearance at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution.
