Brick Man Struck and Killed on Lakewood Road

LAKEWOOD, NJ – A motor vehicle accident at the intersection of New Hampshire Avenue and Erica Road in Lakewood resulted in a pedestrian fatality. The incident occurred just after 5:30 PM yesterday, involving a 67-year-old man from Brick.

The Brick man, driving a 2021 Ford Escape southbound on New Hampshire Avenue, struck 28-year-old Ana Gabriella Mayorga-Baires. Despite the driver’s claim of not seeing the victim before the crash, he remained at the scene until police and emergency services arrived. Mayorga-Baires was later pronounced dead at a local hospital at approximately 6:15 PM.

No charges or summonses have been issued yet, but the Lakewood Police Department continues its investigation. Officer Mark Gibson encourages anyone with information to contact him at 732-363-0200 ext. 5415.
