Fatal Pedestrian Accident Near LIRR Station in Hampton Bays

HAMPTON BAYS, NY – An 89-year-old woman was fatally struck by a car near the Long Island Rail Road station in Hampton Bays on Monday, January 8. The Suffolk County Police reported that Margaret Lucey of Hampton Bays was crossing Ponquogue Avenue westbound when the accident occurred.

The collision happened as Lucey was hit by a vehicle making a left turn from Good Ground Road. She was transported to Southampton Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

The driver, a man from Hampton Bays, remained at the scene and has been cooperating with the investigation. Police indicated that he is not expected to face charges in the incident.
