Fire at Vacant Lakewood Lumber Yard Injures Two

LAKEWOOD, NJ – A large fire broke out at a supposedly vacant lumber yard in Lakewood, resulting in injuries to two individuals. The incident occurred just before 5 p.m. near Ocean Avenue (Route 88) and Monmouth Avenue.

Lakewood Police Capt. Gregory Staffordsmith reported that the building had been vacant for an extended period. However, two people, believed to be squatters, sustained injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation.

Emergency crews were still managing the situation at the scene as of 8:45 p.m. Dramatic footage from the site showed intense flames engulfing the structure.

The cause of the fire has not been immediately determined, and investigations are ongoing.
