Man Arrested for 2023 Hit-and-Run in Jersey City

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ – The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office announced the arrest of Rey Rosario, 66, from Bayonne, in connection with a hit-and-run incident that occurred in Jersey City on February 10, 2023. Prosecutor Esther Suarez released the information following Rosario’s arrest on January 5, 2024.

Rosario faces charges of Knowingly Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Collision Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury and Endangering an Injured Victim, both third-degree crimes under New Jersey law. He was apprehended on Monmouth Street in Jersey City and has been released pending his first court appearance.

The hit-and-run incident, which took place around 7:45 PM on February 10, 2023, at the intersection of Communipaw Avenue and Kennedy Boulevard in Jersey City, resulted in serious injuries to a 39-year-old female pedestrian. The victim was transported to Jersey City Medical Center by Emergency Medical Services. The vehicle involved in the incident did not remain at the scene.
