Man Fatally Shot in Vehicle in West Harlem

NEW YORK, NY – A 39-year-old man was found fatally shot in West Harlem, as reported by the NYPD. The incident occurred on Sunday, January 7, 2024.

At approximately 6:20 PM, police responded to a 911 call reporting an unconscious and unresponsive male in front of 619 West 135th Street, within the 30th Precinct. Upon arrival, officers discovered Omar Espinal, seated in the driver’s seat of a parked vehicle, with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Espinal, a resident of 740 W. 187 Street #2K, was transported by EMS to Mount Sinai Morningside, where he was pronounced deceased. His family has been notified.

No arrests have been made, and the NYPD’s investigation into the incident continues. The department is seeking information from the public to aid in their inquiry.
