Prince George’s County Couple Wins $50K with Birthday-Inspired Numbers

Money - Lottery winning jackpot.

BALTIMORE, MD – A husband-and-wife team from Prince George’s County celebrated a significant win, securing a $50,000 prize in the October Pick 5 drawing, the largest in their history of playing Maryland Lottery’s Pick 3/4/5 games.

The winning combination, inspired by the wife’s birthday, proved to be a stroke of serendipity. The husband, who usually buys the tickets while his wife picks the numbers, recounted the story to Lottery officials. On October 25, he stopped at a Valero station in Clinton for gas and decided to purchase the Pick 5 ticket, unknowingly making a $50,000 winning bet. His wife had planned to buy the tickets but couldn’t.

The excitement of the win, coming amidst a busy holiday season with a large family, led to a delayed prize claim. The couple has plans for home improvement projects with their winnings.

Clinton Valero, located at 6725 Old Alexandria Ferry Road in Clinton, where the lucky ticket was purchased, has been awarded a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket. This win adds to the growing list of Maryland Lottery winners across the state.
