Columbus Teen Charged in Murder of Gilbert F. Contreras-Ramirez

COLUMBUS, OH – On January 10, 2024, Manuel Perez-Cajete, 18, was arrested and charged with the murder of Gilbert F. Contreras-Ramirez, which occurred on January 9, 2024.

Columbus Police officers responded to a call at 10:18 AM on January 9, at the 2300 block of Antigua Dr., concerning an armed individual. Upon arrival, officers discovered Contreras-Ramirez with a gunshot wound. Despite immediate medical attention from Columbus Fire medics, Contreras-Ramirez was pronounced dead at 10:57 AM.

The Columbus Division of Police urges anyone with information about the incident to contact Detective G. Stevens at (614) 645-3750 or the Homicide Unit at (614) 645-4730. Tips can also be submitted to Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at (614) 461-TIPS (8477). Detective Stevens, assisted by Detective Phalen, is leading the investigation into this case.
