Man Attacked by Three in Violent Newark Robbery

NEWARK, NJ – The Newark Public Safety Department, led by Director Fritz G. Fragé, is actively seeking public assistance in identifying a suspect involved in an aggravated assault on Monday, January 1.

The incident occurred around 1:23 a.m. near Ferry Street and Polk Street.

A male victim was assaulted by three Hispanic males, one of whom put him in a chokehold while the others robbed him.

During the assault, the victim was stabbed before the suspects fled in a black sedan. He is currently stable.

Surveillance footage captured one of the suspects stabbing the victim. Director Fragé encourages anyone with information about the suspect’s identity to contact the Newark Police Division’s Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS.
