Pedestrian Struck and Killed on Route 9 in Freehold

FREEHOLD, NJ – The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating an incident where a pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle.

Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced the investigation on Wednesday. The incident occurred on Tuesday, around 5:35 pm.

The Freehold Township Police Department responded to the southbound lanes of U.S. Route 9 near State Route 33, finding a 61-year-old male victim who was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The involved driver, a 48-year-old male in a 2001 Ford F-150, remained at the location.

The investigation is being conducted by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART), and the Freehold Township Police Department.
