Pennsylvania Officer and Suspect Wounded in Early Morning Shooting

SCRANTON, PA – A Scranton police officer and a suspect were critically wounded in an early morning shooting on Thursday.

The incident, which occurred around 4:30 a.m., happened as the officer was investigating two prior shootings in the city.

State Police Maj. Mike Carroll reported that gunfire was exchanged when officers encountered the suspect.

The names of both the officer and the suspect have not been disclosed. No additional injuries were reported.

 The shootings are believed to be gang-related but not random.
