ALBUQUERQUE – This morning, Albuquerque Police Department (APD) detectives arrested Christpher Facey, 33, on charges related to a deadly altercation that occurred overnight at a West Side dog park. The arrest took place around 8 AM at a residence located at 10244 Shawna Ct., N.W.

Investigations revealed that late Friday, Facey was at the dog park’s parking lot, situated at 5700 Bogart St., N.W., with a woman with whom he was romantically involved. The woman, reportedly married, had arranged to meet Facey at the park. They were in his black Nissan Titan truck when Guadalupe Maldonado, the woman’s husband, arrived at the scene with a friend and confronted the pair.

The altercation escalated when Maldonado stood in front of Facey’s truck. Despite the woman’s plea for Facey to leave, he accelerated the vehicle, striking and running over Maldonado.

Subsequently, the woman and Maldonado’s friend transported the injured man in her truck to an urgent care facility on Coors Blvd. Maldonado was pronounced deceased shortly before midnight.

Following the incident, Facey reportedly fled the scene in his truck. He now faces charges of 2nd Degree Murder, accident involving death, and homicide by vehicle. The case remains under investigation.
