Gunfire Leads Police to Motor Vehicle Crash in Schenectady

Police investigating reports of gunfire and a motor vehicle crash arrived at the scene on Elmer Avenue at around 9:47 P.M. last night.

The incident took place in the 100-block area of Elmer Avenue according to a department statement. Callers to 911 reported hearing shots fired coinciding with the crash.

Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle that had collided with a house’s front porch after veering off the road. Investigation revealed the vehicle was shot at by two unidentified individuals on foot, leading the driver to lose control and crash. Officers found one shell casing at the scene. There were no reported injuries.

Schenectady Police’s Detective Division, Traffic Division, and Evidence Technician Unit are jointly investigating the incident. The case remains open, with no suspects apprehended as of now.
