Robbery Suspect Wanted After Phone Snatch Inside Subway Station

NEW YORK CITY, NY – The New York City Police Department has made an arrest following a robbery at the Grand Avenue-Newton subway station on the southbound “R” platform.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, January 9, at approximately 2:30 pm.

Two unidentified individuals approached a 54-year-old male and stole his cellphone. When chased by the victim, one of the suspects brandished a knife before they both fled on foot. No injuries were reported.

Matthew Siltz, an 18-year-old male from the Bronx, was arrested and charged with robbery in connection with this incident.

The NYPD is still seeking information about the second individual involved and asks anyone with information to contact the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS or submit tips online.
