Suspects South in South Bronx Shooting That Sent Elderly Bystander to Hospital

NEW YORK CITY, NY – The New York City Police Department is asking to the public for information regarding a shooting incident that took place in the South Bronx.

On Friday, December 29, 2023, at around 6:45 pm, a confrontation occurred in front of 845 East 149 Street. During the incident, two unidentified individuals exchanged gunfire, inadvertently striking a 68-year-old male bystander in the right arm.

Following the shooting, both individuals fled the scene and their current whereabouts remain unknown. The bystander, who was injured in the incident, was transported by Emergency Medical Services to NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln and is currently in stable condition.

The NYPD has released media depicting the two individuals involved and is asking anyone with information to come forward. Descriptions of the individuals are limited, but they are noted to be males with medium complexions.
