Baker County SAR Team Successfully Rescues Injured Hiker from Denny Creek Road

BAKER COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Baker County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue (SAR) team responded to a medical emergency on Denny Creek Road on Saturday afternoon.

At around 2:58 p.m., dispatch received a report of a male with a suspected broken ankle.

Heavy snow rendered parts of the road inaccessible by conventional vehicles. Four SAR members, equipped with two tracked side-by-sides, were dispatched for the rescue operation. They found the patient about 6 miles up the road, where he had lit a fire to keep warm. The individual was in good condition despite the circumstances.

The SAR team transported the patient to a U.S. Forest Service vehicle waiting further down the road, which then transferred him to an ambulance on Highway 7.
