Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting in Norfolk

NORFOLK, VA – On the afternoon of Thursday, a Norfolk Police Officer was involved in a fatal shooting on E. Little Creek Road. The Virginia State Police are conducting the ongoing investigation.

The incident unfolded when Norfolk Police responded to a report of a suspicious person at the 100 block of E Little Creek Road at 1:40 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers encountered Gary S. Solomon, 31, who brandished a knife and approached an officer.

The officer, along with a security guard present at the scene, discharged their weapons. Solomon was transported to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The involved officer is on administrative duty pending the investigation’s conclusion. The Virginia State Police encourage anyone with information to submit tips through the P3Tips mobile app.
