ERIE COUNTY, NY – Michele Boland, 52, of Gowanda, received a 1 to 3-year prison sentence from State Supreme Court Justice Debra Givens.

From 2016 to 2022, Boland, a bookkeeper, embezzled $266,963.30 from her Orchard Park employer.

Boland executed her scheme by mislabeling company checks and disguising them as legitimate business expenses. The discovery followed an investigation triggered by credit card irregularities.

She pleaded guilty to grand larceny and offering a false instrument for filing.

Boland is ordered to pay restitution to her employer and the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, totaling over $283,000. No restitution has been paid to date.
