Knives At Indian River High School Lands Student in Cuffs

DAGSBORO, DE – An 18-year-old student at Indian River High School, Dagsboro, was arrested after school authorities found two knives in his backpack.

The arrest occurred on Wednesday, following a discovery made around 9:00 a.m. The School Resource Officer was alerted by school staff who found a vape pen with suspected THC and two folding knives during a backpack search.

The student was temporarily removed from the school premises and released to parental custody. No threats were issued, and no harm came to students or staff.

The student later surrendered at Troop 4 and faced charges including Possession of a Weapon in a Safe School Zone, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, and Possession of Marijuana.

Following arraignment by Justice of the Peace Court 2, the student was released on a $2,001 secured bond and received a no contact order with the Indian River School District.
