Fight in Rockingham Ends in Shooting

ROCKINGHAM, NC – A confrontation in Rockingham escalated into a shooting late Friday morning.

The incident occurred within city limits, on Mill Road near Watson Avenue, around 10 a.m.

According to the Rockingham Police Department, two men engaged in a physical altercation, during which one of them produced a firearm and shot the other in the leg.

The victim was subsequently transported to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital-Richmond by a bystander and has since been released after receiving treatment for his injury.

The suspect fled the scene and has not been publicly identified. However, the Rockingham Police Department has confirmed that the suspect has been identified, and arrest warrants are in place.
